Daily Dubstep invites After 12

Daily Dubstep invites After 12 - Thu 25-04-13, Kunstencentrum Vooruit

General Info

Mr M & One87 launched Daily Dubstep in 2009. It was an instant success and after several sold-out editions, they were invited to host a stage at the Tomorrowland festival in 2011. Since they showed the crowd how to rock a Dubstep party big time, they were invited back last summer and they will also be present again this year. Daily Dubstep also joined forces with Star Warz on several occasions. This New Year’s Eve for the second time and again, it turned into one of the biggest and baddest bass music nights ever witnessed in Belgium.

This time Daily Dubstep teams up with After 12. After 12 began in 2005 with a radio-show on Ghent based student radio-station The main focus of the radioshow was the UK bass sound: drum'n'bass, jungle, rave, 2step and garage. When dubstep evolved during that period After 12 was one of the first radio-shows in Belgium to play the fresh sound. Next to the radio show After 12 started promoting their own Dubstep parties in Ghent. The main ingredient is mostly Dubstep but attention for and influence by other similar genres is never far away. International guests on After 12 were among others Mala, Pinch, Rusko, Distance, N-Type, Kromestar, Goth Trad, Roska, Ben UFO and Mosca.

These two big players now present to you one of the most influential labels in bass music at the moment:  Swamp 81 : the imprint run by DMZ's Loefah. Named after Operation Swamp 81, the stop and search laws put in place in 1981 throughout the South London area of Brixton and which directly lead to the infamous race riots of that year. As "dubstep" grew further and further from its roots and became increasingly commercial, Loefah turned his attention to an emergent new hive of creativity to create his own label, Swamp 81.  With a steady stream of output from the likes of Kryptic minds, Skream, Pinch, Ramadanman, Addison groove, Instra:mental, Boddika and FaultyDL, it became increasingly clear that Swamp81 is dedicated to the promotion of sub-cultural bass music rather than Dubstep music per se. The releases display a like minded dedication to weighty electronic music and that is what has made the ripples worldwide for this label, winner of the best new label at the Dubstep Awards in 2010.

Frontman Loefah heads the line-up and in his trail are two of the excellent talents on his label. First of all Boddika, also known as half of the great Instra:mental formation. After his seminal first solo releases on Naked Luch, he was picked up by Loefah for Swamp 81 and more. He also runs a label that’s known for thinking outside the box and also ‘NonPlus’ quickly established a reputation for forward-thinking bass heavy electronica across the musical spectrum.

Next a guy that made his name as MC for lots of leading players as True Tiger, Hessle Audio & Swamp 81 and frontman of the Riot Jazz Brass Band. Today, Chunky is a radio-host on Rinse FM and a 23-year old producer in his own right with an amazing double-pack out on Swamp 81.

The Swamp 81 artists are getting the full support of the Daily Dubstep and After 12 residents ‘Allspark’ and ‘After 12’ and all will be uplifted by leading MC Nice

As far as collaborations go, this is a big one …and it will also be a very good one :)
