Daily Dubstep invites Chestplate
Mr M & One87 launched Daily Dubstep several years ago. This quality platform for the best that Dubstep has to offer, was an instant success and after several sold-out editions, they were invited to host a stage at the Tomorrowland festival for the first time in 2011. It became such a party that they were instantly asked back, both last year and this summer. Daily Dubstep also joined forces with Star Warz on several occasions as on New Year’s Eve, turning into one of the biggest and baddest bass music nights ever witnessed in Belgium. Just as Star Warz, the event is rapidly becoming the standard for the leading, international labels and events to showcase their talents.
After labels as Osiris and Wheel & Deal Records and dubstep platform, Get Darker, this time Daily Dubstep is the event of choice by head honcho Distance for an exclusive Chestplate night in Belgium. Chestplate holds a residency in London’s most famous superclub Fabric and will now also hit Belgian soil!
Chestplate Recordings was founded in August 2007 by Dubstep pioneer Distance, as a means to releasing his own music. The edgy sound that Chestplate is currently known for was evident from the very first release By Distance & Skream 'Political Warfare / Radical'. Since then the quality control bar has always remained high with releases by Benga and Cyrus, not to mention an array of top quality releases from Distance himself such as 'V', 'Victim Support' and 'Menace'.
Voted as one of the top 10 labels in Dubstep for 3 consecutive years in the dubstep forum awards, the next step for Chestplate was to start building a camp. What better way than Tunnidge in 2010, with his now modern classics - '7 Breaths / Fear'. 2011 saw the camp ever expanding with more exiting upcoming artists including Cyrus, District, Sleeper and Razor Rekta. In April 2012 Chestplate expanded its reach to the airwaves on BBC Radio 1xtra's Daily Dose Mix roster. On top of that a residency at one of London's most iconic nightlife spots: Fabric, certifies the label at the forefront of the Dubstep music scene. In 2012 Chestplate went international for the label's debut tour of the United States. Hosting stages at the legendary Outlook Festival and branching out to events across Europe in 2013, Chestplate keeps its foot to the floor! Keep locked!
Distance was already a name on everyone's lips since day one, and he’s widely recognized as having helped to lay the foundations of what dubstep is and develop what it has become. Fostering a unique sound, Distance as producer, DJ and label owner has been pushing things in a direction all of his own. For this showcase, he wanted to do something special and he proposed some back to back action with Icicle from Shogun Audio fame. And who are we to deny such an unexpected treat! Two of the top guns of the scene, joining their powers in a 2 hour set. We hope you’re looking forward to this as much as we do!
First exceptional artist joining this Chestplate label night is Cyrus who’s celebrating a decade in Dubstep which he started with the Chestplate release – Cyrus & Distance – Titan/Rude – and a mix series going through 10 years of favorite tunes and dubplates and gigs to celebrate with his fans!
Next up are two friends and collaborators, in the form of District & Sleeper. Both are somewhat newer to the scene but finding their way into every major DJ’s record bag from the irrepressible DJ Youngsta, to scene legends Skream and Benga on their Radio 1 show and responsible for the latest releases on Chestplate!
And also Distance’s favorite MC LX One is no longer a stranger behind the wheels of steel. His productions with artists as SP:MC, Youngsta and Icicle showed that he is a force to be reckoned with so he will hype us up not only with his vocals but also with an exclusive dj-set.
All these guys their bookings have increased exponentially over the past years with busy DJ schedules delivering sets packed with exclusives at events and festivals all over Europe. It looks to be another dominant year for Distance and the Chestplate collective and we’re very happy to be part of it!
As usual the international guests will be joined by Daily Dubstep resident Allspark who is teaming up with Subreachers this time, who’s clearly making a name for himself with tracks for Tuba and Surface in the pipeline. MC Nice will be livening up their set with his wicked vocals.
Add to that MC Nice and MC LX ONE who is the favourite MC of not only Distance but also Youngsta and N-Type and we hope yours too as this is not the first time we have him over ...
